SUMMARY: The Romans came to Britain in AD 43.They built a town on the River Thames, and they called to the town Londinium. Here, there was live very important people:William oquerpr that built the White Tower to feel safe; Shakspeare, that he wrote 36 plays and Charles Dikens, he wrote about the lives of the rich and poor people of London at that time. On Saturday 22nd September 1666, there was a big fire in London and a lot of people lost their houses. You can visit a lot of places in London: The London Eye, it's a big wheel, St Paul's Cathedral and Windsor Castle, that it's some old building; and The Big Ben, it's the name of a tower bell. Them you can find some churches like Westminster Abbey, many art galleries, some interesting museums as The British Museum, it's one of the largest museums in the world. The Buckingham Palace is the London home of the Queen and them, more than 80 parks! The tube is London's underground railway. The Metropolitan Line opened in 1863 and it's theoldest in the world. The bus is very used. The Docklands Light Railway is a modern railway line that doesn't have drivers. London is famous for its shopping. Oxford Street is London's main shopping centre, and the most famous shops in London is Harrods, them, there are a lot of shops in Convents Garden. There are also hundreds of markets in London. In London there are more than seven thousand pubs, for example The Prospect of Whitby. There are many nightclubs, some stay open all night. Most theatres and cinemas in London are in the West End, here there are musicals, comedies and plays by modern writers. In Soho there are many foreing restaurants ans cafés. There are a lot of good Chinese restaurants in Chinatown.
